History

A Great Adventure

Six Flags Great Adventure stays true to it’s name, boasting a wide variety of rides, entertainment, and attractions.

Roller Coasters

Six Flags Great Adventure is home to the world record holding Kingda Ka, the tallest roller coaster in the world.  The park has 13 other roller coasters ranging from tame to thrilling.

Warner Brothers Themes

Time Warner was the parent company of Six Flags from 1991 to 1998, but Warner Brothers continues to remain Six Flags’ biggest partner. As a result, Six Flags Great Adventure has Warner Brothers licensed attractions throughout the park. Some of these include:

  • Superhero-themed roller coasters like The Joker, The Dark Knight, Superman: Ultimate Flight, and Harley Quinn Crazy Train
  • Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, an immersive 4D dark ride experience
  • Bugs Bunny National Park, featuring a variety of camp-themed rides

50th Anniversary Celebrations

2024 marks Six Flags Great Adventure’s 50th year in public operation. The theme park has announced several ways they’re celebrating this year:

  • Dream Street Anniversary Pathway – This 50th anniversary walkway will be constructed from donated bricks. Individuals, groups, or organizations can purchase a brick and customize it with a selected logo and engraved message.
  • Legacy Quotes – It’s so simple, but memories are really what it’s all about when it comes to visiting amusement parks! Six Flags Great America is asking for guests to submit memories from over the years. The park will then feature selected quotes online and in the park.
  • 50th Anniversary Logo
  • The park will also be introducing several new attractions for the 2024 season, including:
      • The Flash: Vertical Velocity – North America’s first super boomerang roller coaster
      • Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa – new accommodations  nestled within Six Flags Great Adventures’ Wild Safari Park
      • Saw Mill Log Flume – a new log flume ride that will reside in the Frontier Adventures area of the park
      • The Giant Wheel – the park’s ferris wheel has been there all 50 years of operation, but it will return this year with “an upgrade that adds an extra touch of magic”.
