110 Years Taking In the Waters Along Lake Michigan
This year, 2011, the Rosemont Inn Bed and Breakfast in Douglas, Michigan celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year. But 10 years is just a fraction of the time this charming home has been a destination along the shores of Lake Michigan.
The home was originally a boarding house, built 110 years ago, in 1901. After serving that purpose for 70 years, it was transformed into a Bed and Breakfast. Pieter and Pat Lion purchased the B&B in 2001, the Inn’s Centenary! This year marks a decade of service operating as The Rosemont Inn. “We have worked hard to maintain the old time ambiance of visiting the lake cottage while providing up-to-date amenities,” owner Pat Lion says.
The Rosemont Inn is a family-owned 14 room bed and breakfast located in the Saugatuck Douglas area of Michigan. With beach access and bicycles, guests can adventure from the Michigan bed and breakfast into nature at the drop of a hat. An escape from the real world doesn’t even require leaving the lake shore resort, with an indoor 10 person hot tub and sauna, an outdoor heated pool, a koi pond garden, and ultra comfortable chairs on the porch. And of course, unparallelled customer service is always in abundance, whether you’re on a romantic getaway or a midwest family vacation!
Pat says, “We encourage our guests to take time away from their stressed out lives of work and family to relax, breathe, sleep, eat and re-connect or as our sign says ‘to sit long, talk much and laugh often.’” Even if only for a weekend getaway, the Rosemont Inn is “close to home yet…a world away.”
Rosemont Inn can also provide a charming environment and lake michigan lodging for important events. The Inn offers private retreat facilities, with a large meeting room, A/V equipment, and the ability to facilitate any equipment rental needs. The Lake Michigan resort also makes an ideal backdrop for outdoor weddings, with cozy guest rooms, lake front views, a picturesque waterfall garden bridge, and a gazebo.
The Rosemont Inn is an active part of the Saugatuck Douglas community, as a members of the Saugatuck/Douglas Business Association and the area’s Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Inn also supports local programs, like the Saugatuck Center for the Arts, Mason Street Warehouse, and Christian Neighbors program. They also provide a float for the annual 4th of July parade.
10 years in business for the Rosemont Inn means 10 years of satisfied guests, like the Zurakowskis, who are honored by the Rosemont Inn for staying at the Inn every year on their anniversary since the Inn’s opening in 2001. In just 10 years time, the Inn has made it’s mark on the community and its guests, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
