HazMat Solutions Celebrates 10 Years of Growth
In the spring of 1999, Dean Blauser responded to a chemical accident where a death was involved. The fatality was caused by a hazardous atmosphere which resulted in the evacuation of a four block area of the community. Six weeks later, Blauser responded with his crew to an explosion caused from the accidental mixing of two chemicals at a manufacturing facility. The resulting chemical mixture was twice as volatile as nitroglycerin. One building at the company exploded and seven workers were injured, some critically.
Prevention of these types of accidents was the driving force behind the conception of HazMat Solutions, a company that provides certified HazMat training to fire department, hospital, chemical plant and food processing facility workers throughout the United States.
Opened in 2001, HazMat Solutions is now celebrating 10 years of growth. HazMat Solutions operates out of a 4,000 sq ft. building, employs over 35 employees, and has a full fleet of trucks, supply trailers, and on-site simulators. The HazMat training courses include hazardous materials transportation, hazmat certification, and confined space training.
Teaching from Experience, not the Book
HazMat Solutions specializes in hazardous materials training, DOT HazMat training, and confined space entry training at all levels. Certified Hazardous Materials Specialists have received “Train-the-Trainer” classes from the Office of Domestic Preparedness for WMD Terrorist Training. These qualified instructors design customized, site-specific programs such as incident command training and hospital emergency preparedness, and incorporate training with computerized simulators, hazmat videos, hands on activities, and personal protective equipment which exceeds OSHA standards.
Customers consistently thank the instructors for providing outstanding classes which directly apply to their work environment. “That was the best training I’ve had in years!” is the response HazMat Staff frequently receive.
A Small Business with Big Clientele
While HazMat Solutions is a small business, the company provides services to very large clients throughout the continental United States. In just 10 years of business, the DEA Clandestine Drug Lab Training Center for the Department of Justice in Quantico, VA, the Secret Service, and the Pentagon HazMat Team have all contacted HazMat Solutions to discuss training options for their unique training needs.
Fire departments, medical EMTs, paramedics, and other local public service companies are using HazMat’s Confined Space Standby Rescue, a newer service that has been growing in demand over the past five years.
Meeting A Goal: Saving Lives Year After Year
HazMat’s core mission statement of “Reducing Injuries and Deaths from the accidental or intentional release of Hazardous Materials” has remained the same, and HazMat Solutions continues to expand their services to further that goal. Expanded services for 2011 include: Hospital first receiver training, online awareness training for healthcare workers, and Confined Space Rescue services for many industries.
HazMat Solutions Rescue Specialists have all had over 240 hours of specialized Technical Rescue training in addition to medical EMT or Paramedic training. This allows HazMat Solutions to offer the best Confined Space Rescue and Hazmat Training services on the market.
